Summary of Role

Emmanuel Church is a thriving church with a strong online presence. We are seeking a dedicated and creative Social Media Director to manage our social media accounts and enhance our digital outreach efforts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the mission of the church and have a strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and community engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Create engaging and relevant content for various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. This may include designing graphics, writing posts, producing videos, and more.
  • Social Media Management: Monitor and maintain all church social media accounts, ensuring a consistent brand voice, posting schedule, and engagement strategy.
  • Community Engagement: Interact with online followers, respond to comments and messages, and foster a positive and inclusive online community that reflects the values of the church.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a social media strategy that aligns with the church's mission and goals, including setting objectives, tracking performance metrics, and making data-driven improvements.
  • Live Streaming: Manage live streaming of church services, events, and special programs on platforms like Facebook Live, YouTube, and others.
  • Event Promotion: Promote church events, conferences, and programs through social media platforms, reaching a wide and diverse audience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the church's communications team, impact team members, and staff to coordinate social media efforts with broader communication strategies.
  • Research and Trends: Stay updated on the latest social media trends, algorithms, and tools to adapt and improve the church's online presence.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, digital media, or related field preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices
  • Proficient in graphic design, video editing, and content creation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of the church's mission and values
  • Previous experience in social media management and content creation is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Ability to learn and use Emmanuel’s systems (Rock, Planning Center, etc.) and learn and adapt to new technology
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner, self-motivated
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when handling personal and ministry information
  • Demonstrate a servant heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity

  • Agreement to abide by Emmanuel Church’s Expectations of a Staff Member which include:

o   Financial support of the church with your tithe

o   Attend one weekend service each week and monthly staff meetings

o   Participate in community through small group

o   Prioritize a Sabbath (one 24-hour period of time off work each week)
